PROGRAM
Day 1: ARRIVAL – CATANIA AREA
Arrival in Catania airport, and transfer at the hotel in Taormina area check-in the reserved rooms. Welcome drink. Dinner and overnight in the Hotel.
Day 2: TAORMINA - ETNA
Buffet breakfast in the hotel. Today we bring you to Taormina. Guided tour of the archaeological city, you will walk through its winding streets and visit the Greek theater of the second century, in which inspired the works of D.H. Lawrence and Truman Capote. In the afternoon we go to Volcano Etna the guide will introduce you to the fascinating world of volcanic phenomena and we will admire the living Volcano with an impressive view over the Mediterranean Sea. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Day 3: CATANIA - SYRACUSE
Buffet breakfast in the hotel. Today we bring you to the vibrant and economically largest city in Sicily, Catania which has been the jewel in a succession of empires throughout the centuries; from the Greeks to the Romans, through the Arabs, Normans and Spaniards, to name just a few. After the earthquake of 1693 it was rebuilt in the Baroque style (with the creative use of lava). We will visit the baroque old town, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 2002. Free lunch. In the afternoon we will go to Syracuse to visit the Greek Theater and the Roman Amphitheater. Back in hotel dinner, and overnight.
Day 4: AGRIGENTO - PALERMO
Buffet breakfast in the hotel. Today we will drive inland to Agrigento and visit the Valley of the Temples. We will explore the UNESCO-listed archaeological site and see one of the world's best examples of architecture from Greater Greece, in southern Sicily. Transfer to Palermo, dinner in hotel and overnight.
Day 5: PALERMO - MONREALE
Buffet breakfast in the hotel. Today we move to the city of Palermo. We will discover an interesting variety of architectural styles, from Arab domes to baroque buildings, the Palace of the Normans, the Palatine Chapel and the Church of St. John of the Hermits, we will visit the Piazza Bellini, the Quattro Canti Square. In the afternoon we will travel to Monreale with its Norman cathedral. Dinner in hotel and overnight in Hotel.
Day 6: PALERMO
Buffet breakfast in the hotel. Day at leisure. Spend a day relaxing in your hotel or walk through the street of Palermo where you can taste local delicacy. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7: PIAZZA ARMERINA – TAORMINA AREA
Buffet breakfast in the hotel. Today we return to Catania. On the way we will visit "Villa Romana del Casale" in Piazza Armerina, where you can admire the beautiful mosaics from the Roman period. They are among the best preserved in the world and an example of beauty and art as evidence of the good taste that characterized the populations of that time. Transfer in hotel dinner and overnight.
Day 8: CATANIA
Buffet breakfast in the hotel. Transfer at the airport in Catania.
