PROGRAM

 

Day 1: ARRIVAL

Arrival at the airport in Milan/Bologna and transfer from the airport to the hotel in Parma area. Dinner in hotel or restaurant. Overnight. 

 

Day 2: PARMA

Breakfast in hotel, we move to a guided tour of the center of Parma refined Emilian city, which has been shaped over the centuries by great architects and painters such as Antelami, Parmigianino and Correggio. The great master Correggio painted illusionist frescoes inside the Chamber of St. Paul, the Church of St. John, and the Cathedral, while Benedetto Antelami designed and decorated the incredible medieval Baptistery in the religious area. We will get to know how the  the Farnese's family lived which were once the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza. Afternoon free time in Parma. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

 

Day 3: PARMESAN AND PROSCIUTTO IN PARMA AREA

Breakfast in hotel and transfer for a guided visit of cheese factory producing Parmiggiano Reggiano. Today we give you the opportunity to witness the production of Parmigiano Reggiano live and discover the secrets of cheese processing as well as taste the product during the gastronomic tour. The guided tours start from the production room and continue along the special corridor designed to allow you to see all the stages of the production process up close. We will continue to the pre-salting rooms, the salting room which (contains over 2,100 wheels), the hot room. We will then visit the warehouse, containing 33,570 forms of Parmigiano Reggiano, and we will see the packaging laboratory, where the forms are cut and packaged. To complete the guided tour, a gastronomic tour awaits you in the tasting room, where the different maturations of our Parmigiano Reggiano DOP will be explained and tasted, as well as other typical products selected in combination with the maturing of the cheese. We will then move to a "prosciuttificio" where the famous Parma ham is produced. (including Parma ham tasting). in the afternoon we will visit the Castle of Torrechiara medieval fortress of 1400s. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: CALORNO PALACE -  CULATELLO TASTING

Breakfast in hotel and visit of the Palace of Calorno which once belong to the Farnese's family the Duck of Parma, this Palace will give you the experience of life that once people lived like Versailles. At the end of the visit we will move to a Culatello factory and we will see how is processed this fine salami with it's maturing cellar, there will be a lunch with a taste of this famous delicacy. Afternoon we can suggest to visit the Fontanellato Castle or the Soragna Castle. Overnight.

 

Day 5: MODENA AND BALSAMIC VINEGAR

Breakfast in hotel. Leave Parma and go to Modena, guided tour of the center of Modena. Lunch in Modena. Afternoon we will visit a traditional Balsamic Vinegar factory in Modena. This famous vinegar is produced from cooked grape must, matured by slow acidification thanks to natural fermentation and progressive concentration after a long aging process in different types of fine wood barrels, without adding any aromatic substance. This gives a bright and dark brown color, the density of which can be admired by a soft and balanced texture. During the visit there will be a tasting of balsamic. Departure for Bologna, arrival at Hotel in Bologna.

 

Day 6: BOLOGNA

Breakfast in hotel, guided visits to the center of Bologna, this medieval university city is charming, historical and entertaining to explore with the it's Maggiore square the Towers degli Asinelli, the Sanctuary of Madonna Santa Lucia, its arcades. In addition, you will discover that its gastronomy is light years away from the "Mortadella" that bears its name. Dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight.

 

Day 7: BOLOGNA

Breakfast in hotel, free day available, but the possibility of adhering individually to organized tours from Bologna. Final dinner in Bologna. Overnight.

 

Day 8: DEPARTURE

Breakfast in hotel. Free morning. Transfer to Airport. End of our services.
